Day[3/100] #100DaysOfCloud – Jonnychipz – Still Getting Organised

So I know the point of this Challenge is not necessary to partake and post an update for each consecutive day, and truth be told, I havent dont any of what I had intended today in terms of my learning path! Ah ha I hear you all cry! Indeed. The usual has happened, another day of unexpected phone calls and work. However……….

Later this afternoon I had my weekly catchup call with the great folks that make up the WAUG – Welsh Azure User Group, and have been mashing away at my keyboard ever since, working with action points and some exciting news to help take the group to the next level.

As Im typing this away and staring at my Devops for dummies book snarling at me because I haven’t got to the end of Chapter one, I think to myself, have I failed to hit a target? Well yes and no is my answer!, yes im gonna post that photo again ->

It dawned on me……….. seems obvious now however!

For those of you that don’t know me (that’s like everyone reading this!) Ive recently teamed up with a great bunch of guys and gals across local business in South Wales from Microsoft, Confused.com, Clear Bank, IPO and of course me at BT Enterprise. Basically after gate-crashing a great MeetUp last month. Out of that the ‘Welsh Azure User Group’ has been formed. Ive deliberately not named them in this post as i’m not sure they would appreciate being associated with my Blog ramblings! But if you want to say hello to my readers guys, just message below!!!

Anyhow, my point being, there is a lot of work, like I say, some mega exciting things going on with the group and Im really seeing it build and go in a fantastic direction that is going to be great for our community in Wales of Technical Bods and Business bods to gain a great understanding of Microsoft Azure.

So this is my Day 3, a brief overview of the goings on of getting a user group up and running! I must say, its been a really enjoyable challenge, met up with some great likeminded people who Im really happy to be sharing this new but interesting journey with, and of course, it is exposing me to the wider Microsoft Azure Community.

I guess that’s the point here, yes I’m blatantly plugging the Welsh Azure User Group, but equally I’m hopefully showing a little bit of the behind the scenes of getting a young User Group off the ground. All I can add, is that in itself every day is a learning experience, and just because I didn’t find time to read a book or do a bit of coding (which is my plan!) I realised that I also have the plan of setting up and making a User Group run as smoothly as possible.

Oh, and did I mention we have the Best User group logo, #azureusergroupchallenge 🙂

Conclusion of Day 3

Its all in the planning, this is early doors to my 100DaysOfCloud Challenge and clearly I have opened up a number of pathways for me to fulfil. I’m not entirely sure if I’m following the ethos of the challenge, but if nothing else its acting as a great mechanism to outline my plans! Day 3 is all about the User Group, can we each challenge each other to give a bit back to the community? I must say, so far this journey is proving really enjoyable and fun that nobody needs to be left out of. If you want to hit me up for a chat or discuss anything related to Learning, My journey, Azure or User groups then please do!!!

100DaysOfCloud Overview

My Main ReadMe Page is all set up with a bit about me!

The guys at 100DaysofCloud have set up the GitHub repo to be cloned and also have a great repo containing ideas and areas to collaborate on: https://github.com/100DaysOfCloud/100DaysOfCloudIdeas

My Github Journey tracker can be found here: https://github.com/jonnychipz/100DaysOfCloud

Please Watch/Star my repo and feel free to comment of contribute to anything I push! I really look forward to hearing from anyone who is going to jump on the journey around the same time as me! Lets see where I get to in 100 days!

I would encourage others to jump on this journey, I’m not sure that I will be able to commit every day for 100 days, but as long as I can complete 100 days that will be great!
